On Tuesday, June 20, GSI Sports presented the 6th annual Missouri Western Girls ID Camp, sponsored by Chick-fil-A St. Joe, Albright Buick GMC Cadillac, HCA Midwest Health, DICK’S Sporting Goods, Central Bank of the Midwest and Sport Shake.
The camp was held at the state-of-the-art Griffin Indoor Sports Complex, which is also the summer training camp home of the Kansas City Chiefs. The ID camp presented aspiring college soccer players U15 to U19 a snapshot of collegiate soccer in a challenging and competitive environment.
Over the past several years, the Missouri Western Girls ID Camp has provided fabulous exposure to college coaches for the attendees, resulting in numerous college soccer scholarships. In addition to the exposure, girls had the opportunity to take part in a seminar, giving them information about the recruiting process. GSI Sports Camp Director Mike Cleary was pleased with the educational aspect of the seminar.
“At the conclusion of camp, players knew exactly what it takes to compete at the college level,” he said.
The Missouri Western ID Camp atmosphere was the ideal setting for the coaches on staff to push players in all aspects of the game while providing skill instruction, tactical training and small-sided situations.
“Campers had the opportunity to receive instruction from college coaches and also show off their ability and skill,” said William Jewell Head Coach, Jefferson Roblee.
Coaches from the following schools were in attendance:
- Central Methodist University
- Concordia University
- Emporia State University
- Indian Hills Community College
- Johnson County Community College
- Metropolitan Community College – Blue River
- Missouri Western State University
- Northeast Community College
- Park University
- University of Mary
- University of Missouri Kansas City
- William Jewell College
- William Penn University
“The Missouri Western Girls ID Camp is the perfect tool for players to receive feedback from a variety of sources,” Cleary said. “GSI Sports continues to provide their camp attendees with an unparalleled soccer recruiting experience and we look forward to the continued growth of this camp.”
