Over 63 teams participated in the “September Showdown” and teams traveled from St. Louis, Kansas City, Des Moines, Bettendorf, and Boonville.
“We know that getting a team to a tournament takes a lot of effort and sacrifice and we appreciate the commitment that the coaches and managers made to get their teams rounded up and moving in our direction,” said Huw Savage, Tournament Director.
The brand new multi-sport complex in O’Fallon, Illinois features 12 playing fields, four with natural grass and eight with cutting-edge synthetic turf. The venue is estimated to draw 1.1 million visitors annually, making a profound commercial and economic impact in the community.
In addition to the fields, the O’Fallon Family Sports Park is home to a 6,000 square foot “Splash Pad” with a two-acre play area comprised of non-traditional playground structures. As the temperatures soared to over 90 degrees during the tournament weekend, the “Splash Pad” was a welcome addition to the tournament atmosphere and a fabulous way to beat the heat.
“The KiXX organization and O’Fallon Parks and Recreation were a pleasure to work with and have a wonderful facility that will be the home to quality tournaments for years to come,” added Savage. “We look forward to hosting the Showcase St. Louis, GSI Celtic Cup, St. Louis Super Cup, and the St. Louis Invitational at this great soccer destination.”
